A Short-Explanation About Linguistics

            Linguistics is a study of language, on the other hand linguistics discuss about language in full-scale or language as a whole. Language is the method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structures. Another meaning of language is the system of communication used by a particular community or country.
            Linguistics divided into two branches, theoretical linguistics and applied linguistics. Theoretical linguistics is the construction of general theory of the structure of language, investigates the form and function of language. For examples, the theory about:
1.     Phonetics, the study of sounds in language.
2.     Morphology, the study of the internal structure of words and phrases, such as their stems and affixes.
3.     Phonology, concerned with the systematic organization of sounds in languages.
4.     Syntax, the structure of sentences.
5.     Semantics, a sub discipline of linguistics which focuses on the study of meaning.
            Applied linguistics is the application of the findings and techniques to practical task, especially to the elaboration of language teaching, covering broad range of activities which involve solving some language-related problem or addressing some language-related concern. For examples: Google translate and many other translator applications, varied traffic signs, advertisement or commercials etc.
